Thanks to our patented retrofit hardware, any home wallbox can be enabled for legally compliant (Eichrecht) billing. You can purchase any wallbox flexibly or retrofit existing models. Our user-friendly web app allows you to classify charging sessions as private or business.

I have a wallbox. Can it be used with the Charge Repay Service?

The Charge Repay Service can be used to bill any wallbox with a single charging point. Legally compliant models can be directly connected to the Charge Repay Service through configuration. Depending on the model, you can choose whether to connect the wallbox to the internet via home Wi-Fi or cellular network. For non-legally compliant models, our hardware upgrade is required to enable billing through the Charge Repay Service. Check your model directly in the configurator.

I don’t have a wallbox yet and would like advice on the best model to install.

In principle, the Charge Repay Service can be used to bill any wallbox model with a single charging point. You can choose your wallbox freely according to your preferences. First, check whether your company offers wallboxes through a shop or provides subsidies. After selecting a model, you can check the connection options for the Charge Repay Service here in the configurator.

How can my wallbox be connected to the Charge Repay Service?

Depending on the wallbox, there are three different ways to connect it to the Charge Repay Service.

Legally compliant wallboxes

If your wallbox is legally certified, it can be directly connected to the Charge Repay Service. To establish the connection, your wallbox needs an internet connection. This can be achieved via a LAN cable or Wi-Fi connection to the home network. If your wallbox has a built-in cellular modem, you can order a SIM card from us. In most cases, the SIM card needs to be installed inside the wallbox, which requires an electrician.

Non-legally compliant wallboxes

Non-legally compliant wallboxes can be connected to the Charge Repay Service using an additional hardware upgrade. A power meter is installed in the power supply line of the wallbox and connected to the Charge Repay Service via the Charge Repay Gateway.

Service Process: The Right Solution for Your Home

Here’s how the Charge Repay Service works:

1. Invitation to the Service

Your fleet management invites you to the Charge Repay Service via email. With this invitation, you can create an account with our service.

2. Onboarding

After registration, you go through the onboarding process, where all necessary information is collected to connect your charging solution with the Charge Repay Service. We distinguish between:

  • I have a legally compliant (Eichrecht) wallbox
  • I have a simple, non-legally compliant wallbox
  • I have no wallbox

I have a wallbox installed and want to know how to connect it to the Charge Repay Service

If a wallbox is already installed, you can select your model in the service and receive the corresponding integration options. For legally compliant (Eichrecht) wallboxes, it is possible to connect your hardware through a configuration. You can decide whether your wallbox should be connected to your home Wi-Fi or if we should arrange a SIM card installation. Any non-legally compliant wallbox can be connected to the Charge Repay Service through a hardware retrofit. For this, you go through an additional onboarding process where details about your installation are provided and pictures of the meter cabinet and sub-distribution are uploaded. This information is used for planning the installation.

I have not yet installed a wallbox

If no wallbox is installed yet, you can consult one of our partners regarding the installation of a new model. It is possible to install a legally compliant (Eichrecht) wallbox or a more cost-effective, non-legally compliant model in combination with the retrofit hardware from Phoenix Contact. Our partners handle the entire process from procurement to installation. Your company has the option to subsidize the purchase and installation.

3. Hardware Installation

This step is only required for a simple, non-legally compliant wallbox. For legally compliant (Eichrecht) wallboxes, this step is only relevant if a SIM card installation is necessary.

After onboarding, your information is reviewed, and one of our installation partners will contact you. Depending on the complexity of the installation, either an appointment for installation is directly scheduled, or a pre-check is conducted remotely or on-site. During the pre-check, additional information is collected to plan the installation. Subsequently, an appointment for installation is scheduled. After the hardware installation is completed, you can complete the onboarding independently by registering your Charge Repay Gateway or your legally compliant (Eichrecht) wallbox in your Charge Repay account.

Note: Installations of retrofit hardware can only be carried out in norm-compliant wallbox installations. Any deviations from the norm must be rectified in advance if necessary. A cost estimate from the installation partner can be provided for this.

4. Ongoing Operation

After successful installation and commissioning, you enter your current electricity tariff and the mileage of the company car. Now you are ready for billing. In the service, you get an overview of your charging sessions and the expected reimbursement. If your company uses the automatic payout of the Charge Repay Service, your expenses will be reimbursed monthly. Otherwise, the reimbursement is made through a company-specific method (e.g., via payroll).
